The Story
Rebel Meat is on a mission to help people eat less but better meat. Rebel Meat develops meat products that only need
50% meat for a 100% meat experience. Rebel Meat uses only natural and 100% certified organic ingredients and no additives.
The company’s first product was a burger patty that has been awarded “Organic Product of the year” in Austria, and is
successfully sold to top gastronomers directly and via wholesale as well as in retail. A full bbq range was launched in summer 2021 - after the launch of 2 more products dedicated to children, the product portfolio now consists of 7 products in total.
Rebel Meat is building a viable option for meat lovers that have a hard time ordering a vegan meal but still would
like to reduce their meat consumption for various reasons. 100% meat experience with just 50% meat - the rest
is all-natural, high-quality plant-based ingredients. All ingredients are sourced transparently and - whenever possible - regionally.
Rebel Meat did a life-cycle assessment (LCA) for their burger patty: the 50% organic beef, 30% king oyster mushrooms & 20% millet patty saves 40% CO2 emissions compared to a 100% beef patty.
Success Factor | Hero Moment
One of the Rebel Meat hero moments was definitely their retail listing which could be secure in the Austrian TV startup show 2 Minuten 2 Millionen (2 Minutes 2 Million).
Furthermore they managed to expand their shelf space from one product to 5 products in less than one year. This proves that retail also believes in this new food hybrid-category.
